As Seoul hotels go, this is a little gem in the heart of Myeongdong. We saw it on our two previous trips and decided to stay there as it was right next to the Myeongdong Subway station.
It's also a great location for tourists as lots of tour companies pick up at the subway exit in front of the hotel (so you can just roll out of bed), and it has a Hollys Coffee inside. And 2 convenience stores outisde.
When you walk in, the lobby looks like a much more expensive hotel with gold and marble everywhere. The reception team is polite, and speaks English.
I have to give a massive shout out to the Manager. Seriously, this dude went above and beyond for us when Cathay Pacific lost our luggage. We arrived with nothing, and he was on it like a spaniel after a sausage for the two days it took them to ship it to us. He phoned the airline, kept us updated, and asked after our well being (quite smelly by that point). An absolute diamond.
I had booked a twin room for my son and I, but we decided to upgrade to a family room. The twin room was fine, but a little small and I'm claustrophobic.
We were moved to a great sized room that was comfortable and clean. I have no complaints at all about the room (which is unusual for me). The bathroom was lovely, there were slippers and robes, and the beds were super comfy.
The Hollys Coffee in the lobby opens a bit earlier than most coffee shops, and is expertly run by a lone woman. How she does it I don't know, but we made use of it for breakfast a few times.
Cross over the street from the subway and you are bang in the middle of Myeongdongs' shopping and food area.
The subway station is on Line 4 (light blue), which is 2 stops from Seoul Station, and the Airport Limousine Bus stops close by.
Yes, most locals will tell you that Myeongdong is 'touristy and not authentic,' blah blah, but you can't beat the location of this hotel if you are a tourist. We have stayed in Gangnam, Dongdaemun, Jamsil, and near Seoul Station, and I can say this was easily the most convenient.
I would recommend the Pacific Hotel without hesitation. It isn't the cheapest, but then it feels like a 5 star, so I think the prices are pretty reasonable. We really loved it, and the staff were exceptional.
